M28 Youth Retreat

Category: Youth Group Coordinator:M28 is an action filled four day camp that takes place at Lake Junaluska, NC every summer. A day in the life of camp includes worship, teaching, discipleship, games, and exploring the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
Maples Youth Group is attending M28 this year for their mountain 2 camp July 3rd-July 6th, and we're gearing up and preparing to make this a fun trip! Below is our itinerary for the week.
Monday, July 3rd
6:15 a.m. - Depart Maples (Lunch and dinner on the way)
4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - Registration (Shackford Hall)
6:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. – Welcome Pizza at Nanci Weldon Gym
7:30 p.m. – Shackford Auditorium Doors open, Camp Store open
7:45 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. – Worship (Shackford) & D-Groups
9:45 p.m. – 10:15 p.m. – Camp Store Open & Fireworks
10:30 p.m. – Church Vespers at Rooms
11:00 p.m. – Quiet Hours Begin
Tuesday, July 4th
7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Breakfast (York Dining Commons)
9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. - Worship (Shackford)
10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. - Workshops
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Lunch (York Dining Commons)

Thursday, July 6th
7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Breakfast (York Dining Commons)
8:30 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. - D-Group Goodbyes (D-group location)
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Worship/ Bible Study (Shackford & walk to cross)
10:15 a.m. - Depart for Home!
~6:30p.m. - Arrive at Maples for pickup
Things to bring:
- Personal toiletries
- Clothes for summer outdoor activities, maybe a long sleeve/jacket for cold nights in the mountains, swimsuits (Gals must wear one piece or tankini that covers the midriff)
- Water shoes
- Shoes for lots of walking and running
- Sunscreen
- Beach towel
- Flashlight
- Money for two fast food meals and spending money for the gift shop (be adamant that your youth do not run out of their money before paying for their meals!)
- Pen, notebook, and Bible! (sheets, comforter, pillow, and bath towels provided)
Things NOT to bring:
- Fireworks, pocketknives, or weapons of any kind
- Drugs (including alcohol, vapes, tobacco ...),
- Speakers or game systems,
- Valuable jewelry,
- Inappropriate clothing, including midriff-baring tops, spaghetti strap tank tops, short shorts, and clothing that exposes undergarmets.
- Inappropriate advertisements on clothing or anything else (Ex: a beer shirt or inappropriate symbols)
- Medications (except those which are prescribed and left with the youth minister)
- Cell phones are allowed on the trip but can only being used during travel or in the sleeping quarters. There will be NO cellphone use during planned activities.
We will have a meeting June 25th after church at 12:00 in Wesley Hall. We will fill out forms that need to be completed, run through important information, and address any questions or concerns. All attendees, Chaperones, and a parent need to be at this meeting. Bring all forms back signed and with the needed information, or fill out the forms at the meeting. Youth will not be able to attend the trip without these forms completed.
