Maples' Holy Week 2021
This year, the week leading up to Easter (Sunday, March 28th to Sunday, April 4th) will consist of several services, some of which will be online only and some of which will be online and in person. Use this page to find out when you need to be where to be at any service. You will need to sign up for which Easter Sundays service you and your family will be attending. Links to those signups are at the bottom of this page.
Lenten Prayer Walk - Sunday, March 28th
The Lenten Prayer Walk will take place at 6:00 on Sunday, March 28th, starting in the narthex outside the sanctuary. Due to Covid-19, the Lenten Prayer Walk will not have any hands on elements, but you and your family will still be able to walk the path. To reduce person-to-person contact, we will be letting people into the Prayer Walk in timed out increments. You must sign up your family group for a time frame.
The Lenten Prayer Walk will also be available on Facebook and YouTube. Unlike the Advent Prayer Walk, there will only be one long video. However, you will be able to skip between each station by clicking on the chapters available in the description of the YouTube video.
Seder Meal - Wednesday, March 31st
This year, the Seder Meal will be returning. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, Maples' still does not feel safe having public dining. However, in place of Maples Connect, we will be livestreaming Pastor Sparks and Meghan Galtelli going through the steps of a proper Seder Meal on Wednesday, March 31st. Click here to get a list of elements to prepare on your own so that you and your family can organize your own Seder Meal at home alongside Pastor Sparks.
Maundy Thursday Service - Thursday, April 1st
On Thursday, April 1st, Maples will be having a Maundy Thursday Service at 7:00 pm. This service will go through the events of the Last Supper. This will conclude with communion and the stripping of the sanctuary. This service will be available online and in-person in the sanctuary.
Good Friday Tenebrae Service - Friday, April 2nd
On Friday, April 2nd, Maples will be hosting a Tenebrae service at 7:30 pm. This will be a telling of the story of the crucifixion, with music and narration, both congregagtional and performed. This service will be available online and in-person in the sanctuary.
Easter Sunday - Sunday, April 4th.
As always, on Easter Sunday, we will rejoice for Christ's victory over the grave in all three services; Daybreak at 8:30, The Connection at 9:00, and Traditions at 11:00. This service will be available in person for all three services, and online for The Connection and Traditions. Due to the large influx of visitors that Maples usually gets on Easter morning, to ensure that social distancing remains possible in the Sanctuary and in Wesley Hall, we ask that everyone sign their family up for whichever service they plan to attend. You will not need tickets. This signup is purely for Maples staff to keep overcrowding to a minimum. We also ask that you keep your mask on during these services especially.
