Shrove Tuesday Website

Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday, is an event in the Christian calendar taking place the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the season of Lent. Since Lent is a season of paucity, Shrove Tuesday is a day to fatten up and celebrate in preparation. This day is where Mardi Gras celebrations find their origin. In recognition of this, each year on Shrove Tuesday, Maples Kids hosts a pancake dinner and children's parade for the congregation and the greater community at large!

We will start with a pancake dinner in Wesley Hall where guests will be served breakfast food at a pancake bar complete with all the fixings. Afterwards, we will have games for children to participate in while we prepare for the parade outside. Once it's time, children can line up on their scooters, bikes, wagons, roller skates, and whatever other modes of transportation they may have for a parade out in the circle drive! While participation in the parade and games are explicitly for the children and youth, everyone is invited to eat pancakes and watch the parade! We also highly encourage everyone to wear their best appropriate Mardi Gras attire and decorate their bikes and scooters with ribbons and beads! This is a great event to invite a friend!
