There are 4 ways to join Maples Memorial United Methodist Church:
1. By Profession of Faith and Baptism
If you are not now a baptized Christian, the minister will be happy to discuss the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism with you. Conversation about what a profession of faith means will take place at the same time. You can make no conversion to Methodism without holding these sacraments close to your heart.
2. By Transfer From Another United Methodist Church
Mark the "I would like to join Maples Memorial UMC" box on the yellow information card in your bulletin and a member of the church staff will contact you. Since you are already baptized and confirmed, these steps will not be repeated. It is not necessary for you to write your former church, Maples can handle the details of transfer for you! You may also call us at 662-895-2279 on Monday-Friday from 9:00–5:00, or you may e-mail your request to info@mapleschurch.org.
3. By Transfer From Another Christian Denomination
Perform the same processes as transferring from another United Methodist Church Since you are already baptized and confirmed, these steps will not be repeated. You will be asked to take the one vow taken by all members of the United Methodist Church: "Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and Maples and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?"
4. How to "Join" Without "Joining"
If you are a United Methodist whose membership is in another city or state and you wish to retain membership in your "home" church, you can become an Affiliate Member of Maples Memorial UMC. This grants you pastoral oversight, fellowship and participation at Maples. You will not be counted on Maple's membership roll, but at your "home" church. We will write your "home" church informing them of your Affiliate Member status at Maples. Members of other Christian denominations may elect to become Associate Members under the same conditions as Affiliate Members.
